Your Solution For Missing Teeth: The Dental Implant Process

Dental implants provide high-quality, lasting solutions to your missing teeth. Implants are the “root” device surgically placed below the gums into the jawbone, acting as the post for your healthy artificial tooth. These posts work through osseointegration to fuse with the jawbone, giving it a certain point for crowns, bridges, and dentures to attach to the implant.

Dental implants can be used to substitute one or more sets of teeth and can even work in groups to replace a complete set of missing teeth for bridges and dentures. The prosthesis they attach to can also support the facial structures and soft tissues around the gums, cheeks, and lips.

Our implants are performed by our in-house periodontist, Dr. Isaac Kim. Before your treatment, a thorough consultation will be done to see which tooth replacement option is best for you. The consultation will include x-rays and CT scans to check the bone density and oral tissues.

We work with the most reliable brands of implants such as Straumann Dental, Nobel Biocare, and Astra Tech at Quincy Dental Specialists Group for our implant systems. During treatment, we work with the following steps:

  • Tooth Extraction: Dr. Kim will remove any remaining broken or cracked portions of the tooth to provide space for your dental implant.
  • Bone Grafts: Bone grafts are often used when there is a lack of adequate bone structure. Dr. Kim can inform you of any bone graft procedures and guide you through the process step by step.
  • Implant Placement: Dr. Kim will secure your dental implant beneath your gums and into your jawbone to allow for integration. After the implant placement, the osseointegration process will take several months.
  • Abutment and Crown Placement: After the implant is fully osseointegrated to the surrounding bone, an abutment will be secured to the implant and a crown will be fabricated to attach to that abutment.. After a few weeks of healing, your new crown will be attached to the abutment, completing the procedure.

We work with Dr. Isaac Kim once every two weeks for implant replacements, wisdom teeth removal, and other surgical procedures. Patients love his cheerful and calming bedside manner that makes the implant process as easy as possible.
